It takes over 11,000 litres of fresh water to grow 1kg of cotton.
Pure Waste makes ecologically sustainable and premium quality 100% recycled fabrics and yarns. Their products are entirely made out of recycled textile waste and offer the consumer the same quality and comfort as those made out of virgin materials.
Pure Waste Textiles use only materials that would otherwise go to waste. Almost 3 million tons of cotton are wasted yearly in spinning yarns, weaving and cutting fabrics. That’s enough material to manufacture three T-shirts for every person on this planet. Up to 15 % of the cotton intended for clothing is wasted in the manufacturing process, and it takes over 11000 litres of fresh water to grow 1kg of cotton. This is where Pure Waste comes in.
The process
Pure Waste collects textile waste from clothing factories and spinning/weaving mills. The waste is organized into different qualities and colors, and each are then opened back into fibers. The mechahically opened cotton waste can then be mixed with recycled polyester or viscose to reach the quality and functionality of fabric desired. After mixing, the fibers are spun into yarns, which can then be knitted and weaved to fabrics.
We use Pure Waste textiles each season for a wide range of products.
