Introducing the Makia x Forum Collaboration

Forum Forever – Introducing the Makia x Forum Collaboration

Without snowboarding, Makia would not exist. That’s where our roots are, and that’s where the idea for Makia was originally conceived. The Makia x Forum collaboration is a tribute to the Forum Snowboards, one of the most iconic snowboarding brands out there – and, of course, to our frosty roots.

First, we need to go back to where it all started. (Don’t worry, we’ll get to the collection soon enough.)

When snowboarding arrived in Finland in the 1980s, it changed a whole lot of things. Before that, we only had skiing, ice skating, maybe a little ice fishing on the side. But suddenly, there was a whole new sport – a sport that caught the attention of a certain Joni Malmi. Joni dedicated himself to the new sport and soon found a personal hero in Peter Line, an emerging superstar in the U.S. snowboarding scene. By dedication and destiny, Joni soon found himself joining Peter’s ranks in the United States, riding under Peter’s brand, Forum Snowboards. That was the beginning of a whirlwind of a decade – a time during which the idea for Makia Clothing was first conceived.

For us, the Makia x Forum collection is a sort of homecoming. It’s a way of paying tribute to one of the most influential snowboard brands out there – and also a celebration of the times that inspired Joni to found Makia. Of course, it’s also about old friends getting back together for a shared passion project. The collection’s items combine everyday staples with pieces that callback to our snowboarding days. Alongside classics such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, and long sleeves, you’ll find a fleece jacket and insulated pants for outdoor activities. The collection also includes a print series that pays homage to the Forum 8 team, regarded as one of the most legendary lineups in snowboarding history.
