Control is a pioneering Helsinki based skateboard collective from the 90’s, later forming into a streetwear brand. For this spring, Makia and CTRL are bringing back the labels’ iconic styles in the form of the ‘Powerhouse’ capsule collection, with artwork dating back to the company’s early years.
Control spawned talent like Arto Saari to international fame with their most notable film ’Teens’ from 1998. Later forming into a streetwear brand known for its colourful and thought provoking prints, by artist and label head – Mr. Freeman.
The ‘Powerhouse’ capsule collection features t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets and accessories in unisex fits, with artwork by CTRL head Tomi Freeman.
Finnish streetwear media Hypend sat down with designers Jesse Hyväri from Makia and Tomi Freeman from CTRL, to discuss how the ‘Powerhouse’ capsule collection came to be.
