Home is where the harbor is

A couple of weeks back, we released the Helsinki Sailing Collection. The sailing-themed collection is our tribute to HSS, the Helsinki-based sailing sports club that has promoted the joys of being out on the water for the last 130 years. We connected with HSS over similar philosophies about the sea and nature in general: when out there, it's nature that calls the shots – not the other way around.

The collection also marks the third and last part of our Sailing Club Trilogy (with the previous parts dedicated to Merenkävijät and Katajanokan venekerho). But why sailing?

It all comes down to our roots, and them being soaked in the brackish waters of the Baltic Sea. The sea, with the unpredictable weather it brings, has been our inspiration from day one. And it still is a huge part of our lives. For instance, our lead designer has his boat docked in Skatta, and not many days go by without him taking it out for an afternoon of fishing in the Helsinki archipelago. One of our founders has settled right next to the sea, with a direct view to the icebreakers from his window, while our chief creative spends most of his summers in an archipelago hideout.

We’ve come far but ended up right where we started. When you’re born next to the sea, you’ll always be coming back.
