For the Spring / Summer 2020 season we are introducing a pattern featuring coltsfoot (‘leskenlehti’ in Finnish).
Coltsfoot is a multi-year plant that has a bright yellow flower that is usually one of the first signs of spring. This enduring flower with a ‘through the rough seas’ attitude starts blossoming when the rest of the surrounding nature is still grey and waking up from hibernation, enduring even in very harsh surroundings.
It has long been cultivated for its medicinal properties and used as herbal tea to treat respiratory infections, sore throats, flu, and fever. Thus, aptly representing resilience for us amidst these hard times.
You can find coltsfoot in the Keltano product family, the Feral Shirt, the Madeira t-shirt, the Garden long sleeve and the Garden cap.
Mauri Kunnas for Makia part 2 paints the images of timeless Finnish stories translated by Mauri Kunnas, into modern-day streetwear.
Makia’s longtime friend, appreciated artist, designer and illustrator Joonas Jansson has designed some of the SS22 collections’ joyful prints. In this edition of Makia & Friends, Joonas will tell more about his background, design aesthetic and style. Enjoy!
Joint collection by Makia and Tympeät tytöt brings feminism to everyday life and the streets.
